Shri Siddhivinayak Temple

post by Admin on October 20, 2024
Situated in Jaysinghpur, Shri Siddhivinayak Temple is a self innovative contemporary landmark seeded in spirituality and symbolism defining a new vocabulary for sacred architecture. Nad Brahma is a primary sound that resonates into infinity from which the entire world comes into existence. This spirituality manifests in both physical and non-physical universes. In all of nature’s creation, we witness harmony of organic forms, geometry and materials. This pleasant aesthetics is attributed to the principle of Golden Mean Ratio or Fibonacci Series. The temple form is an abstraction of Lord Ganesha, also known as Omkar Swarupa, represented in the circular form. Every element of the temple is in the shape of curved segments, starting from a point (bindu) and coming together to complete the profile. The mandir form has been divided into 3 stages – entrance steps, pradakshina marg and garbhagriha representing ‘Uhapatthi’(Earth), ‘Sthithi’(Sky),and ‘Laya’(Universe). There are 24 arches of 12ft diameter representing 24 hours of a day and 12 Rashis. The 108 feet pradakshina marg stands for 108 energy nodes of the human body. The 21ft entrance arch with 21 steps indicate 21 Gun Sutra of Ganesha and the 24 pokes symbolise 24 letters of Gayatri Mantra. Along with this, the temple entrance is aligned to the East in a manner that on every Gudi Padwa, the first ray of Sun touches Lord Ganesha. Further, the garbhagriha stands at the height of 27ft enunciating the 27 Nakshatras making the inner surface of the dome, a reflection of the cosmic universe. No cement and steel has been used in the structure due to their limited life span. Lime mortar made in traditional method using black jaggery, udid dal, jawas, coconut hairs, bel fruits, brick slurry etc. used in brick masonry and PCC foundation. Due to low setting time of lime mortar and to avoid quick oxidation, single layer of construction was done per day. A creation as this is truly an outcome of sheer dedication and passion towards architecture. As is referred in Hindutva culture, ‘kan kan me bhagwan hai’ and ‘Gan Gan Ganat hote’, every small particle in this structure binds together to bring alive this aesthetic and structural wonder.
